I just wanted to say good luck to all of those competing at the upcoming Musclemania Universe championships in June. It's your time to shine
My wife and I, along with a few of our friends, are planning on competing at the America & World Championships in November. After the Universe show, we'll get this blog rollling again and update it on a more regular basis.
Until then, take care everyone!

I like a ton of stuff in this world -- football, mixed martial arts, poker, action movies, philosophy (yes, bodybuilders can read), and M&M's, with there crunchy shells and milk chocolate center (on a cheat day of course). But there are only two things that I LOVE -- my family and natural bodybuilding. My goal is to be the best husband, brother, son, uncle, and physique athlete that I can be. This will be a part of who I am until the day that I die.

Universe is officially over, which means it is time for the regional shows leading up to Musclemania America & World. Congrats to everyone who competed in the Universe show.
Man, there are some great Musclemania bodybuilders. Lots of motivation to keep training and dieting hard.
I'm excited about the upcoming MM America Season. I've been working hard to put on some lean muscle mass in the offseason so I can fill up my frame and move up a weight class. My plan is to compete in the Musclemania California bodybuilding show on Oct 23rd.

Hey all, hope things are going good for everyone. I want to say good luck to everyone competing in Superbody in June. I'm not going to be able to make it out that way, but I'm sure its going to be a great show. Next year for sure.

Hope everyone had a great Holiday season and start to the New Year. I can't believe its already almost March. Time flies.
After the Thanksgiving break, I was right back in the gym for my own workouts and for my personal training clients. It has been a busy couple of months. I'm glad I have such a great group of motivated clients. They trained consistently right through Christmas and into the New Year. The only down side is that I didn't get much of a break for the Holidays. Hey, I'm not complaining. These days you have to work while you can. I consider most of my clients friends now anyways, so its kind of like I'm just hanging out in the gym all day with my buddies helping them get into shape. Not such a bad gig.
We've also been working on my new website over the last few months, which I'm happy to say is up and running. I'm posting articles on fitness training, nutrition, and psychology and hope to have some cool interactive tools in the future that can help people reach their fitness goals. I hope to combine my formal education (kinesiology, national training & nutrition certifications) with my practical experience of competing in Musclemania events to provide high quality, credible information to the fitness market. I'm no freak like some of the Musclemania stars, I've had to work both hard and smart to figure out how to get the best results with just average genetics. This has meant a lot of time studying the human physiological and hormonal systems, as well as a lot of trial and error in the gym and kitchen. If you're struggling with your own physique, maybe I can help you learn a thing or two. If you're interested check it out -- www.natemiyaki.com. Its all free stuff, and you can sign up to receive email alerts when the site is updated with articles, blog posts, or new tools (which I'm planning to do bi-weekly).
As for me, I have one single goal for the first half of 2010 -- get bigger. Yep, I'm planning on moving up a weight class and competing at a more natural weight for my frame. There is no doubt I overdid it for the 2009 American Championships to make bantamweight, but I got the job done and now its time to set new goals. I'll have a good offseason, come back to the 2010 Championships, and give it a go in the lightweight division. Long term goal -- middleweight for sure.
I've bulked up improperly in the past, eating anything and everything in site. I called it "The Drive for 205". I got there -- I got bigger and a lot fatter. I plan to take a smarter approach this time around. I guess they call it a "clean bulk". With the exception of some cheating over the Holidays, I'm eating a lot of good clean bodybuilding foods -- egg/egg white mixtures, fish, grassfed beef, chicken, rice, yams, oatmeal, and of course veggies -- just bigger portion sizes. I'm not doing any cardio, unless you consider walking down the aisles of the grocery store cardio. I'm hitting the weights hard and heavy, but of course with good form and technique.
So far its working great. I'm already filling out and everything is looking bigger. Next post I'll fill you in on the details of the program and post some updated photos. Until then, take care.
