My Words - Lee Frappell
lee-frappellWhen I was 18, and haven't stopped training since. It's a big part of my life and has introduced me to many wonderful people. I decided to start competing at 21 years old, as I felt i had the right shape, balance and proportions to do well. Even though i wasn’t the biggest guy, I felt I had a more classic, natural physique. So I entered the junior class at the British Natural Bodybuilding Federations Southern qualifier. I won my class and went on to the overall; this was a massive victory for me and made me much more confident in myself. The diet, training and sacrifices I had to make was very hard, but I realized what it takes to become a champion. This made the victory much sweeter! Since then I've competed in two British national finals.

I'd like to compete for Musclemania because many of my role models including Rob Riches, Tony Montalbano, Mezza, Lisa Carrodus, Catherine Belso have all done well in the Hollywood show. Therefore I want to follow in their footsteps. Also I think the stage looks amazing, great lighting etc.. That’s very important to me. I’m also hoping it might give me some exposure in America, and will be nice to meet new people out there. I've never been to America, so would be a great opportunity to explore, maybe check out the gyms and nightlife after the show... ;-0

I am also a qualified personal trainer and have a website currently under construction (leefrapple.com). I'd like to also do some fitness modeling this year, and possibly tv work if it becomes available to me. I am sponsored by reflex nutrition and fitshop supplements. I have trained for many years at a gym in Glastonbury called Trainstation gym, which has all the equipment and heavy weights that I need to progress. I live out in the countryside, so I enjoy long uphill power walks for my cardio. As for training I’m a believer in High intensity training, although I am currently experimenting with FST-7 training. On a contest diet I mainly eat chicken, turkey and steak. With brown rice, sweet potato and oats for my carbs. Supplements I believe in a good multi vitamin mineral, Vit C, B, Protein powders, Creatine ethyl ester and zinc before bed. Before training I usually have 2-3 cups of strong black coffee, to help give me a mental and physical boost!

Remember always put 100 percent effort into everything. Train hard, train smart; get your diet right, rest and sleep! You need all of these things to be a winner. For example I actually time how long I sleep; I have a timer on my phone. 1 hour during the afternoon and 8 hours at night. I measure all my food, how many grams of carbs, protein, fats... When I do a set in the gym, I have loud heavy metal music blasting in my ears to psychologically get myself ready to lift the heavy weights. With good form I might add. So it’s all part of the puzzle put them altogether and you will see the complete picture.
