Musclemania® Balkan Champion Blaz Hrastnik has been hitting the gym ever since winner last season. The 6'2", 220 lbs., Slovenian medical student says, "This week i started to feel overtrained after 50 sessions in the past month. So after yesterday's 250 kg squat record, my plan now is to take a few days off for my ligaments, joints and connecting tissue to recover. I will keep a moderate training tempo until my exam-and after that it's full power again. The weight stays about the same, i can see a new vein somewhere on my body every week." Blaz is training for the competition season in Europe and next season straight to MM Universe.
Model Mexico Champion Fernando Valdez says he's hitting the gym both before and after school as he prepares for Model Hollywood next month. The 6'1", 195 lbs., 24 year old Latin muscle model will be meeting with a couple Spanish talent agencies when he visits Hollywood.
Just 19 years old, Clyde Mataj has been training for just 2 years. The 5'10", 185 lbs., Detroit natural bodybuilder says he's still working on weaknesses. "I train twice every day, 7 days a week," Clyde says. "I work at a restaurant with my Mom during the middle of the day and the hit the gym in the morning and nights. I started using supplements last year and it made a big difference. But being able to work and eat at the restaurant really helps. I will pick which Musclemania® show soon and then get start getting ready. I'm really excited about all this!" Adika Njemanze won the Musclemania® Australia last week in Gold Coast. The 5'10", 189 lbs., 18 year old high school student had already won all of the other major natural shows last year and decided he was ready to move up to MM. "I did not want to take on the best guys until I knew I could win," Adika says. "Now I am back in the gym and going to hit the weights and eat like a pig so I can compete with the Open guys next year." Adika will still be just 19 years old, but could still take on the the big boys.
Johnny Diez (R) may be a new look on the Latin American scene, but the 6'2", 210 lbs., 24 year old trainer is yanking heads everywhere he goes. Seen here with a gym protege, he's been training for the past three years. Johnny says he's not taking his physique for granted and is moving to the commercial level. He will soon travel to Miami to meet with some interested Latin media agents. Johnny will also start appearing on the competitive scene at Musclemania shows.
Musclemania® Pro Benjamin Radic (L) is training Blaz Hrastnik for MM Balkan this month. The 6'1", 210 lbs., 25 year old bodybuilder has been training 5 years and working with Ben for his competition preparation. Ben is training for the fall season and is focusing on condition and not so much size. "I got all the size I want as a natural guy. I am just getting leaner and that is helping to make my physique look bigger anyway.
Teenager Adika Njemanze is preparing for Musclemania® Australia next week. The 5'10", 190 lbs., 18 year old college student started lifting under the guise he was at the studying at the library. "I started training a couple of years ago against my mother's wishes," Adika explains. "Then, one day I guess I couldn't hide my size any more and she asked me if I was going to the gym. Well, as long as I keep my grades up, she now "allows" me to train every day." In just one season, Adika has already won all of the natural shows in Oz and says he's ready for MM.
Ivan Estrada and his wife had their concept of a lounge chair at the beach this weekend! The 5'10", 195 lbs., Jalisco, Mexico gym owner is an avid natural bodybuilder who has his whole family training and living the fitness lifestyle. "I've been lifting since I was a kid," Ivan says. "So, its only right that my wife kids should be at it, too." Ivan will soon compete at Musclemania® Latino.
Axle and crank shaft squats are building quads in this region of Ghana, Africa. Kulbila Agyarko Samuel has popularized home made muscle using scrap automotive parts and building his own backyard gym. "We make due with what we have here," he asserts. "Hopefully we will get to compete at Musclemania® Africa and show what passion can do for a body." Sam has been training at home for just a couple of years and has already built a competitive physique.
